Genre: Banking/Mobile App
Excerpt: Characters/Casting
Text: Our protagonist (bless him), is doing his very best to start acting like a grown up. He’s been combing his hair daily, he’s paying his bills on time, and he recently bought himself a presentable, if not slightly gauche button down shirt for special occasions. He’s dweeby but charming— something like a cross between Jim Halpert and Sheldon Cooper. We want someone everyday, average and adorkable to fill this role. Our actor will be equipped with excellent diction and accent skills as they’ll be making a big vocal switch halfway through the spot. First he’ll have a gravelly, hyper-masculine vocal tone fit for a dramatic superhero movie VO. Then he’ll abruptly switch from his tough guy voice back to his real, higher-pitched, lisper voice when his roommate catches him giving himself a macho mirror pep talk. Poor guy. But at least he’s mastered the bank mobile investing app! He’s one step closer to having the financial security required to buy himself a better shirt.

Excerpt: Intro
Text: We open on a familiar scene: Two detectives on a desert stakeout. One rookie and one old-timer sit waiting in their cruiser, the sun beating down on them as the camera captures their bored expressions in a tight quarter profile. A vulture screeches in the distance. A tumbleweed bounces by. For this quick, 15 second spot, we’re drawing on old movie nostalgia, classic Hollywood character tropes and setting clichés to ensure that the moment our spot starts we are speaking a shared cinematic language with our audience. Once we establish this recognizable set up, the viewer is exactly where we want them to be when we introduce the ‘focus shift’ feature which serves as both the centerpiece of the product as well as the mechanism of the spot’s central joke. Our dialogue will revolve around ‘focus shift’ adding to the meta comedy of the spot and highlighting the featured product design.

Excerpt: The Product
Text: The ‘Bounce’ line will feature bold, blinged-out detailing and can’t-stop-staring color pops that are perfect for summer statement accessorizing. The eyelets and trim surrounding the shoes will be flashy (and proud of it!) while the crisp whites and beiges on the body, tongue and heels of the shoes bring balance to the design. Because this limited edition launch is a callback to early 2000’s streetwear aesthetics, we want to use the opportunity to pay homage to popular media at the time: think Rihanna and Jay-Z’s iconic Umbrella music video with a modern, summery twist. We’ll use the power of light and color contrast to their fullest advantage with dazzling, sparkling golds, pinks and silvers dancing against wet black floors. Sleek dark and mirrored surfaces throughout the stage will curate a surreal, sexy energy that surrounds each featured pair of kicks. There will be plenty of inserts of the shoes splashing down and kicking up the shallow water, reflecting glistening reflections of themselves against the floors. Movement and color are alive in each frame. Not only will this set design compliment the standout components of the product, it will also situate the viewer in a sense of nostalgic excitement, leading them to the natural conclusion: “those were the days and THESE are the shoes!”
